Sourceman International - 10 Years.
By Luke D’Elton, Electronics Member, 2025

Established in 2004, Sourceman International is a specialised manufacturing solutions provider. Priding themselves on class leading quality and workmanship, they offer a variety of services including turnkey electronics manufacturing, plastic moulding and machining, sheet metal fabrication and assembly, and cable harness assembly.
Printed circuit boards (PCBs) are at the heart of Team Swinburne’s electrical system. They perform a variety of different functions including high voltage precharge and discharge circuits, low voltage safety systems, data acquisition and power distribution. With a majority of custom designed PCBs centred around safety critical systems, it is important that each design remains reliable over the lifetime of the vehicle.
In 2025 the emphasis on producing a reliable electrical system has increased. Consequently, many of our previous designs have undergone thorough reviews and have changed for this years’ vehicle. This has created the need for a significant amount of remanufacturing— a challenge which would be impossible without the support of an organisation like Sourceman International.
Once our PCB designs are finished and have passed internal reviews, we pass all relevant information onto Sourceman. Their engineering team look over our designs and check critical elements such as PCB stack-up, track width and spacing and via sizes to ensure our boards are designed for manufacturing. Additionally, we clarify any questions they may have about our designs to ensure the finished products are collaboratively designed.
Whilst our designs are intended to operate in a variety of conditions, the most reliable electrical systems begin with quality components and materials. Sourceman International provide us with some of the highest quality PCB fabrication services. With dozens of hours being spent on each design, it is reassuring that our boards are fabricated to the highest possible standards. Additionally, PCBs supplied by Sourceman typically undergo standardised testing procedures upon request. These tests include the flying probe test, microsection analysis and a 120x high magnification inspection.
In 2025, Team Swinburne will be celebrating ten years of partnership with Sourceman International. Over this time, they have been an outstanding contributor to our projects through their printed circuit board design and fabrication services. Each year our engineering students work hard to carefully design schematics and layouts for all the custom PCBs required for our vehicle. With high quality manufacturing and detailed technical advice, Sourceman International assists us with producing a reliable and safe electrical system.
As we look forward to another busy manufacturing and testing phase, Team Swinburne would like to give thanks to Sourceman for their continued support. The design and fabrication resources they provide are an invaluable tool in equipping our electrical engineering students with the knowledge and experience they need for when they start their careers.
